Step into a world where creativity knows no bounds! The Garden of Imagination is an interactive artistic space designed to inspire storytelling, poetry, music, theatre, and spontaneous expression. Whether nestled in a city square, a festival ground, or an open field, this evolving installation invites participation and fosters a sense of wonder and community.
What to Expect
Hosted by the Lady of the Garden, Yvonne Coughlan, the Garden of Imagination offers a welcoming space for artistic exploration. Visitors can choose to actively participate or simply immerse themselves in the atmosphere. Those who wish to engage can select from a list of creative prompts or roll a dice to embark on an unexpected artistic journey.
The Story Behind the Garden
The Garden of Imagination began as a durational performance in Glasgow, Scotland, on January 24, 2008. Inspired by a memorial plaque on a bench dedicated to Charlie ‘Midnight’ O’Sullivan, Yvonne sat in stillness, awaiting passersby. The first audience members who stopped were invited to create stories of their own, sowing the seeds of what would become a growing artistic movement.
Since then, the Garden of Imagination has flourished at numerous festivals and cultural events, including:
Fix in Art, Thessaloniki, Greece 2017- Bringing immersive storytelling to an international festival.
Electric Picnic 2-4 Sept.2017. Earth Spirit Stage-The Yurt of Infinate Possibilities. Yvonne curated everything from a hat making wotkshop, to theatrical and music performances.
Knockanstockan 25-26 July 2014- Walkabout fun with Yvonne.
Kinsale Arts Festival 2013 - Sparking conversations and creative expression.
diyCORK Festival of Culture 2012- A gathering for poetry, music, theatre, and healthy food.
Engage Arts Festival, Bandon 2010- Encouraging interactive performances and audience participation.
