Connections: Make a Film in Four Days

I’ve always believed that storytelling has the power to connect us, and what better way to tell a story than through film? That’s why I created Connections: Make a Film in Four Days; an immersive, hands-on filmmaking experience where participants of all backgrounds come together to write, shoot, and edit a short film in just four days.

It all started in 2011 with RSVP (Red Sandstone Varied Productions) at the Mutant Space Trash Culture Revue, and from there, it grew, reaching the Corona Fastnet Short Film Festival, Kinsale Arts Week, and even international audiences in Greece. The energy, creativity, and teamwork that emerge in such a short time are incredible. People walk away not just with a finished film, but with a deeper appreciation for the collaborative art of filmmaking.

But in the end, Connections isn’t really about the film, it’s about the people. It’s about the relationships built, the self-development of everyone involved, and the sense of achievement that comes from pushing beyond perceived limits. Many participants start out thinking they could never make a film, that it’s beyond their capabilities or means. But with the right support, they do it. They create something, together. And that feeling of accomplishment, of discovering new strengths and possibilities, is what truly lasts.

I also strongly believe in the healing and transformative power of creative expression. When people are given the space to explore their own creativity, they often unlock something much deeper than they expected, whether it’s personal growth, new connections with others, or healing from past experiences. Connections is as much about the journey as it is about the destination, and that’s what makes it so powerful.
